The College of the Marshall Islands, a community college located in the warm central Pacific six degrees north of the Equator on Majuro atoll, seeks a Senior Network and Systems Administrator to join in our Information Technology Department. General Description: Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, the Senior Network and Systems Administrator will identify and implement information technology solutions. The selected individual will work with a team of technicians in the design, development, and implementation of infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will also play an integral role in maintaining infrastructure at CMI remote sites. Salary and Benefits Offered at the College of the Marshall Islands: Compensation - US$18,500 to $26,000. Salary placement is depending upon relevant education, training and experience. - Salary is supplemented by up to $9,000 in annual housing allowance. Benefits - Two-year initial contract - Transportation from the point of hire to the Marshall Islands - Shipping reimbursement of between $2,500 and $4,000, depending on number of accompanying dependents. NOTE: the Republic of the Marshall Islands has only a national wage tax and no state or local wage taxes. As a result, the total withholding on earning can be substantially less than in many locations, including the U.S. U.S. citizen may also enjoy additional tax benefits based on non-resident status. It is recommended that applicants check with their financial or tax advisors for details of the tax benefits of non-resident status. - Applicant Requirements:
Qualifications: Minimum qualifications: - Associate's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering or related discipline and two (2) years work experience in an information technology-related field. Additional education qualifications may be accepted in place of work experience. - Direct experience in design, implementation, and operation of network projects, specifically with LAN/WAN network design. - Working knowledge of telecommunication networks, networks structure, and advanced routing and switching technologies. - Skills, knowledge, and experience in the following technologies: o Microsoft Windows server technology o Microsoft Active Directory o Microsoft Exchange Server o Linux Enterprise Server (RedHat and Debian) o Cisco and Linksys Routers and Switches o SonicWall devices o DNS and DHCP o Network infrastructure and protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, IIOP, ODBC and JDBC o Server Conversions from RAID 1 to RAID 5 o Internet Security o Windows 2000/XP/Vista Operating Systems o Microsoft Office Suite - Experience troubleshooting servers running Microsoft and Linux systems. - Ability to write scripts in some administrative language. - Experience in gathering information for system requirements, finding and recommending solutions, and documenting processes. - Ability to deal with large number of variables and determine specific courses of action. - Verbal and written communication skills in English. - Ability to work in a multi-cultural work environment. Preferred qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering or related discipline and two (2) years work experience in an information technology-related field. - IT related certifications, such as MCSE. - Application instructions:
