PSI seeks candidates for Malaria Program Director to provide support to PSI's global mission and lead PSI's role as the Global Fund Principal Recipient under Round 7 for South Sudan's main malaria control activity. This individual will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of country-wide Long Lasting Insecticide Net (LLIN) distribution, introduction and promotion of Artemesinin-Combination Therapy (ACT), and support enhanced capacity for malaria programming within the Ministry of Health. They will also supervise two international staff and up to five locally recruited staff. This full-time position is based in Juba, Southern Sudan and reports to the Sudan Country Representative. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Lead the development and finalization of implementation of project strategies in collaboration with government, donors and all other stakeholders; - Maintain strong communication linkages with all key stakeholders throughout the project life, including the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP), related departments of the Ministry of Health (MOH)/GOSS, other government departments, partner NGOs and Sub-recipients; - Monitor and ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of all aspects of project sub-granting, financial, administrative and procurement functions of the project in collaboration with the Country Representative and Business Operations Manager; - Monitor and ensure accountability of major sub-recipients. Anticipate and address areas of programmatic risk and undertake necessary measures to enhance performance where necessary; - Coordinate all aspects of subcontract administration, technical assistance and funding requests from PSI/Washington and the malaria technical group in Nairobi; - Interpret and analyze project monitoring and evaluation information and supplement inferences with regular travel and familiarization with all geography and partners in the project area. Assess progress and adjust strategy as and when necessary; - Act as the PSI Sudan primary point of contact with the Local Funding Agent and Global Fund Geneva; - Ensure high quality periodic reporting on all project aspects in-line with Global Fund requirements; and - Take necessary measures to integrate the program effectively within the overall PSI/Sudan platform and within the broader health objectives of the Government of South Sudan. - Applicant Requirements:
- Master's in Business Administration, Public Affairs, International Relations, Public Health or related discipline; - 5-7 years experience in general management, at least 3 of which is in the region or a similar developing country environment; - Excellent diplomatic, presentation and oral/written communication skills; - High energy, ability to lead as part of a dynamic team environment and be accountable for aggressive results; - Background in malaria control preferred; and - Knowledge and experience with the Global Fund procedures and processes a plus. - Application instructions:
