The Healthy Markets Program Deputy Manager/Public Health (HMP-DM/PH) is a senior management position that is responsible for the achievement the Healthy Markets Program public health and market management related objectives. The HMP-DM/PH manages district level market coordinators and their teams composed of staff members targeting public health and market management functions in CHF built markets (primarily food markets) - comprising upwards of 20 staff members and as many as four teams. These teams are responsible for implementing public health, market management and policy level activities related to CHFs Healthy Markets Program including training and support of market management and local sanitations, and facilitation of awareness-raising and technical skills building in areas such as safe food handling and storage practices, and health promotion, e.g. avian influenza prevention or use of safe water. This team assists the construction and water/sanitation engineering team to work with government to establish water and solid wastes management systems and to design functional easy to clean work-areas. The HMP-DM/PH will implement programming incorporating conceptual support given by program technical advisors in various fields (e.g. public health, community outreach, knowledge management and environmental engineering etc), managing this input in concurrence with the HMP Manager. Duties: Manage the district market teams in the realization of the Healthy Markets Program public health and management objectives including program assessment, conceptualization, scheduling, monitoring, etc as necessary and required. Manage the HMP public health and market management related operations including human resource recommendations, budgets, expenditures and scheduling/programming Reporting on public health and management related program activities under the HMP to the Healthy Markets Program Manager or other delegated staff member Represent the Health Markets Program to internal and external sources on issues related to public health, market management and policy related issues in accordance with CHFs Indonesia program strategy as assigned Provide public health and market management staff training and development as appropriate Regularly visit district operations to support program activities Developing proposals and mobilizing resources for public health or community development-related interventions as required Support CHFs country level program development as required Other activities as assigned - Applicant Requirements:
A successful candidate should have proven achievements in managing international public health/environmental sanitation projects and experience in managing a department, facility, or business. Knowledge of behavior change methodologies, community development practices, Indonesian language and past experience in traditional market/livelihoods settings are all desirable. Capacity building and training experience are also required for the post. The Healthy Markets Program Deputy Manager/Public Health position requires a masters degree in environmental and/or public health or substantial professional experience in public health work in a developing country context (10 years) with a relevant masters level qualification. - Application instructions:
