URS is preparing to tender for a major upcoming forest and climate project to rehabilitate rainforests in Kalimantan. This complex project is expected to cover a range of technical areas, including reforestation, biodiversity management, rehabilitation of wetlands; carbon inventory and credit/offset pilot programs; forest policy reform and institutional capacity-building at provincial/district government level; and, strengthening community livelihoods and participation in planning processes and conservation efforts. We now invite applications from senior experienced professionals for the role of Team Leader. This exciting and challenging role is expected to include responsibility for overall project implementation and management, including strategic leadership of the project, and management of a large team of technical advisors (for example engineers, natural resource, environmental and social specialists), field workers and administrative staff. The project is also expected to have a significant and ongoing involvement from the local communities. Critical to your success in this role, will be your tenacious leadership skills and solid understanding of the environmental, social and political context of this project. Regular liaison with key clients, advisers and stakeholders is a key task, and will therefore demand superior communication and negotiation skills honed over several years of international experience. You will also demonstrate a strong technical background in natural resource management, institutional reform and capacity-building, and community development and engagement practices within Indonesia. - Applicant Requirements:
In addition you must have: - team leader experience of large multidisciplinary, multicultural teams in remote locations and a clear demonstration of being able to effectively operate in a senior over-sight and coordination role, particularly in relation to staff, agency and community coordination. (essential) - experience co-ordinating and overseeing a broad range of activities. (essential) - previous project planning and staff management experience. (essential) - demonstrated communication skills and ability to liaise with program stakeholders at all levels. (essential) - fluency in both spoken and written English. (essential) - fluency in spoken Bahasa Indonesian. (highly regarded) - a strong background working in Indonesia. (highly regarded) - willingness to undertake field trips to remote areas under arduous conditions.
