• Description:
  PSI seeks a Junior Procurement and Logistics Officer to provide support for social marketing programs in developing countries with point of sale health products and other goods and services. This position reports to the Deputy Director, Procurement and Logistics and is based in Washington, D.C. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Procure goods and services for PSI programs worldwide; - Prepare contracts and/ purchase orders; - Prepare invoices for payment; - Enter purchase orders for field procurements and consultant invoices paid out of HQ; - Enter and maintain purchase orders for sub-awards in consultation with the Contracts department; - Must learn donor procurement regulations; - Prepare documents required for export; - Coordinate logistics activities and moves of household goods, consumables and layette shipments; - Monitor and track procurements and shipments; - Report status to headquarters and international staff; - Establish and maintain professional working relationships with vendors; - Conduct product and source of supply research; - Undertake projects related to the departmental MBOs; - Assist with maintenance of database system; and - Other duties as assigned. Items procured include female condoms, rapid diagnostic kits, water purification products, electronic equipment, packaging, office equipment, vehicles and research materials. The Junior Officer will have a high degree of interaction with the headquarters and international staff of PSI, and with domestic and international suppliers. QUALIFICATIONS: - BA/BS degree or equivalent experience; - 2+ years experience in an administrative, procurement, finance/accounting or customer service position; - Demonstrated willingness and ability to work alone and on a team in a cooperative, problem solving capacity; - Detail oriented and ability to prioritize and perform a variety of tasks with varying levels of responsibilities; - Demonstrated good customer service; - Experience using word processing, database and spreadsheet software; - Familiarity with Lawson or any purchasing suite; - Excellent analytical, organizational, oral and written communication skills; and - Fluency in Spanish and/French is highly desirable. Preference will be given to the candidate familiarity with international health issues, including HIV/AIDS, family planning, maternal/child health and health communications; experience with procuring computer equipment
