This position is located under the Demographic and Health Research Division's (DHR's). DHR main business area is providing research services to the U.S. Government (USG) and international organizations. The main clients are USAID; the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF); the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (Global Fund); World Bank, PEPFA (The U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief), PMI (Project Management Institute). DHR is currently working in population, health, and nutrition fields with focused on 1) Survey research and analysis 2) Monitoring and evaluation, and 3) Technical and management support to organizations implementing community- and district level child survival and health programs. Macro International Inc. is seeking a Senior Research Associate to work on analytical studies on demographic and health issues in developing countries. The researcher will conduct data analysis, systematic literature reviews, and prepare publishable papers and multi-country reports. The researcher will also provide training and technical assistance to collaborators from developing countries. The position is based in Calverton, Maryland, USA and the researcher will report to the Director of Research in the Demographic and Health Research Division of Macro. Qualifications: Minimum Ph.D. degree in a relevant social science or public health field (demography, behavioral sciences, epidemiology/biostatistics, international health). Familiarity with population and health issues in developing countries. Experience with analysis of large survey data sets, systematic reviews of literature, multivariate statistical methods, and major statistical software, such as STATA, SPSS, and SAS. Excellent writing skills, demonstrated ability to prepare publishable-quality manuscripts, excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 3+ years post-Ph.D. work experience in a relevant field preferred. Experience working in a team environment with people of diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of French or Spanish is preferred. The researcher may be required to travel to developing countries as needed (up to 15% of time).
