  It threatens the lives of more young women than cancer, malaria or war. It affects one in three women worldwide. It leaves women mentally scarred for life. It is usually inflicted by a family member "It" is violence against women and girls. And according to the UN, this brutality - gender violence - is on the rise. Starting even before they are born, and continuing throughout their lives, girls are subjected to violence, exclusion, and exploitation based simply on the fact that they are female. Injustices committed against girls occur at all levels of Bangladeshi society in families, communities, schools, governance and politics. Promoting Human Rights and Education in Bangladesh (PHREB) is a voluntary, non-profit and non-government organization designed to promote 'Women's Human Rights', 'Gender Equality' and 'Social Justice' in Bangladesh. Placing the advancement of women's human rights at the centre of all its efforts, PHREB focuses its activities on five strategic areas: * Ending Violence and Discrimination against Girls and Women, * Promoting Human Rights, Gender Equality and Social Justice, * Reversing the spread of HIV/AIDS among women and girls, * Promoting Adolescents' Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, and * Promoting Girls' Human Rights to Education and Health.

• Description:
  International Volunteers will work with local staff and volunteers for our projects and programmes dedicated to the advancement of women rights, gender equality and social justice. In brief the IVs will be engaged in: 1. Mobilizing communities to prevent violence against young women and girls and promoting women rights, 2. Educating Youth about human rights in the Universal Declration of Human Rights and CEDAW, 3. Develop adolescent girls leaderships, 4. Creating linkages and networks among girls worldwide, 5. Rasing funding for the organization, 6. Maintaining PHREB website, 7. Training girls and boys on ICTs and lifeskills. International Volunteers will not receive any financial support from PHREB.
