Institutional capacity development: Provide regular liaison and technical advisory services to provincial and district health officials regarding healthy markets programming, food safety issues, sanitarian training, etc. Planning/implementation of related technical workshops and trainings. Conducting of training needs assessments as concerns: The work of sanitarians vis-a-vis market-based food/sanitation inspection, as well as community outreach. The knowledge-attitudes-practices of market managers and vendors and other workers as concerns food safety, sanitation and other bio-security-related areas. Ensure on-going exchange with other programs dealing with areas related to healthy markets programming (i.e. WHO, USAID/HSSP, etc.). Identify and respond to other areas of need as concerns institutional capacity development in healthy markets programming. Community Outreach: Review overall processes and procedures related to market-based program implementation community organization and assist in improving coordination between construction, community organization and health promotion elements of the healthy markets program. Assist in development and implementation of procedures and training programs for general market-based community outreach. Health education (BCC) materials: Develop targeted BCC for market-based health promotion with assistance of mass media experts. Assist in development of a Healthy Markets Manual that provides a detailed overview of processes, approaches, materials lessons learned, etc. Staff development: Develop and conduct regular skills-building workshops for project staff as concerns community-based meeting facilitation, health promotion, surveying, focus group interviewing, etc. Representation: Provide representational services at national or provincial level (meetings, working groups, etc.) as concerns public health issues, guidelines, standards and policies in areas of strategic interest (market health and sanitation, avian flu prevention, etc.). - Applicant Requirements:
Masters in Public Health with substantial experience in Behavior Change and Communications and hygiene education (with experience in sanitation, food safety and bio-security a plus). - Application instructions:
