Applied Research and Evaluation Specialist The Applied Research and Evaluation Specialist will serve as senior member of RTI's Center for International Health (CIH) group, within the International Development Group. CIH implements programs in the following technical areas: Health Systems and Finance; Health Policy and Research; Health Governance and Public Private Partnerships; Malaria and Vector Control; Neglected Tropical Diseases; and HIV/AIDS. The Applied Research Specialist will be primarily responsible for managing the Center for International Health's applied research and monitoring and evaluation work. This position will be based in RTP, North Carolina. Responsibilities: - Support applied research, monitoring and evaluation, and knowledge management needs for Center for International Health within it's core technical program areas: health systems and health finance, health policy, health governance, public private partnerships, malaria, neglected tropical diseases, and HIV/AIDS; - Oversees the development, implementation, and strengthening of M&E systems for projects in the field; - Develops monitoring and evaluation (M&E) sections of proposals; - Conducts evaluations, comparative analyses, and other research tasks in support of CIH projects; - Assists in the development of toolkits and materials to support research, monitoring, and evaluation-related tasks for CIH projects and proposals; - Prepare technical documents, presentations, research papers, manuals, and reports on specific health topics and project best practices and lessons learned, particularly regarding research successes and accomplishments and how they have been applied to achieve project objectives; - Contribute to brainstorming and development of research agendas and special projects related to international health; - Represent RTI's Center for International Health at technical meetings, seminars and conferences as needed. This may include making presentations on CIH technical focus area; - Stay abreast of new developments and emerging issues in international health as they relate to research, monitoring, and evaluation; - Applicant Requirements:
Requirements: - Advanced degree in public health or a related field, PH.D. preferred; - A minimum of 6 years experience in applied research, project monitoring and evaluation, and knowledge management for USAID-funded projects; - Extensive experience working in developing countries on applied research, project monitoring and evaluation, and knowledge management for USAID-funded projects; - Additional technical expertise in one or more of the following areas is required: health systems, health finance, health policy, health governance, public private partnerships, malaria, neglected tropical diseases, and HIV/AIDS; - Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills are required; - Ability to produce thorough, high quality results within a tight timeframe; - Excellent writing, editing, research, and presentation skills; - Willingness to travel up to 30% of time; - Language skills in French or Spanish strongly desired. - Application instructions:
