Are you a logistician with international humanitarian experience and emergency response experience? Job Description The International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has approximately 20 Emergency Response Units (ERU's) positioned around the world, which can be called upon during international humanitarian emergencies. ERU's are self-contained teams of specialists with technical equipment who can be rapidly operational on the ground. The British Red Cross is responsible for the deployment of logistics ERU's. Each team consists of up to 4 technical specialists and can be deployed from 1 to 4 months in an emergency. We are currently looking for experienced logisticians with international experience for our ERU roster, who are willing to travel at short notice (24 - 48 hours) to relief operations anywhere in the world. Specialist training will be provided. Roster members will be 'on call' for deployment for at least 1 month per year. If deployed, you will receive a minimum salary of UKP24,257 pa pro rata and benefits to include a kit allowance, accommodation, generous in country allowance and insurance. Deployments of 1 month or less will attract an additional 15% bonus. Candidates who are already in employment but who can be released at short notice are welcome to apply. You must either be a British national or have permanent residency in the UK. Requirements You will have: Substantial logistics field experience ideally in the humanitarian field, with reasonable developing country field experience. Experience of Warehousing, Airport Clearance, Transporting goods, Fleet Management, Purchasing, Customs Clearance - preferably specialising in 2 or more. Experience of working in developing countries Experience of financial, narrative reporting & managing budgets Experience of working as part of a team and ideally managing staff IT literate to intermediate level (MS Word, spreadsheets, email, databases) with knowledge of communication systems (Satellite phones, etc) Ability to cope with stress and working long hours in emergency relief situations Availability For this role, the candidate must: be available for a minimum of 1 month on call period per year be available for a deployment of 1 month at 24 - 48 hours notice (maximum deployment 4 months) be willing and available to attend specialist mandatory training Candidates who are already in employment but who can be released at short notice are welcome to apply.
