PSI seeks entrepreneurial, dynamic candidates with an interest in private sector approaches to development for the position of Country Representative, El Salvador. PSI, in cooperation with its local affiliate PASMO/El Salvador, is implementing a highly diversified HIV program with key support from USAID and KfW. With an annual budget of $4 million, the program social markets the Vive line of condoms and conducts a range of mass media and targeted behavioral change communications focusing on at-risk groups. The platform is entering a period of program diversification into family planning and in future years possibly other health areas such as nutrition. The platform forms part of a regional PASMO network which operates programs in all seven Central American countries. This position is based in San Salvador. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Country Representative will be responsible for the overall development, management (financial, administrative, and programmatic), and representation of PSI's activities in El Salvador, with a particular focus on leading the program's expansion into long term family planning methods. This includes, but is not limited to: - Launch and oversee a new five year program to social market IUDS and implants; - Develop institutional and leadership/management capacity at PASMO/El Salvador; - Oversee and mentor the PASMO Country Manager; - Liaise with key stakeholders; - Expand the program into new health areas and products; - Donor fundraising for existing and new programs; - Financial and other reporting as required by donors and PSI/Washington; and - Coordinate with the PASMO regional office. QUALIFICATIONS: - Significant personnel and financial management experience; - A seasoned leader/manager who is also technically-minded, with experience in health services, family planning, and HIV/AIDS; - Growth orientation; - Relevant post-graduate degree (MBA, MIA, MPH, etc.) or equivalent experience; - Knowledge of international development and health issues; - Familiarity with USAID, KfW, the international donor community, and previous experience with host governments; and - Fluency in Spanish and English. The successful candidate will be a creative, innovative and strategic thinker, and will have excellent communication, diplomatic, analytical, organizational, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills; a strong interest in private sector approaches to development; and proven ability to produce results. - Application instructions:
