For more information, please visit: www.psi.org. PSI seeks a Regional Reproductive Health Advisor for the East Africa region. As part of a large program implemented in 14 countries to increase the use of long-term contraceptive methods and prevent maternal deaths associated with postpartum hemorrhage, the Regional Reproductive Health Advisor will lead the provision of technical assistance in these areas for Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Nigeria. A unique set of technical inputs will be required by each country, reflecting the diversity of needs and capacities within the separate country programs. The incumbent will collaborate closely with a PSI country teams to achieve aggressive targets for the insertion of intra-uterine devices and contraceptive implants and the routine postpartum use of Misoprostol for prevention of maternal hemorrhage. Assistance will include factors related to motivation and capacity enhancement of providers and a focus on consumer needs and barriers to adoption of promoted services. The position will be based in Nairobi and reports to the Regional Director for East Africa and the Regional Director for West and Central Africa. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Through desk research and country visits, develop a comprehensive understanding of each country environment as it relates to reproductive health services and the capacity within the country program to undertake the project; - Collaborate with country leaders to develop and implement annual work plans for technical assistance; - Provide leadership in the setting and maintaining of service quality standards across the region; - Assist countries in service provider selection in the public and/or private sectors and identification of provider performance gaps; - Lead, supervise and/or facilitate the development or adaptation of approaches, tools and methodologies for improvement, scale-up and monitoring of service provision; - Through innovative use of communications technology and regular regional exchanges, support a culture of open sharing of lessons learned within East Africa, with other PSI regions and with external audiences; - Lead regional level project performance reporting, knowledge management and documentation; and - Engage in external relations as needed with donor, government, NGO and commercial entities. - Applicant Requirements:
- 7-10 years supporting large-scale health service delivery programs in developing countries; - Relevant graduate level health degree (MPH, MD, etc.); - Experience with training, supporting and monitoring both private and public sector providers. Background in franchising highly desirable; - Familiarity with the international donor community; - Fluency in English; and - Willingness to travel significantly (30-40%). The successful candidate will have excellent communication, analytical, organizational, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills and proven ability to produce results. - Application instructions:
