PURPOSE To improve the efficiency and effectiveness of contextually relevant judicial systems and processes OBJECTIVES 1. Develop a regional approach to efficiency and effectiveness of contextually relevant judicial systems and processes 2. Continued development of benchbooks for the judiciaries of the Pacific Island Countries (PICs) BACKGROUND Given the existing support for reform in this area, the beneficial impact it has on effective administration of justice and mutually reinforcing consequence it has on access to justice, institutional strengthening, governance, and professionalism, the Programme proposes to strengthen its support to this component over 2008-9. This support will build on the bilateral work to date to inform the development of a regional approach, acknowledging the differences in resources, need and capacity. The component will also bring together senior administrative decision-makers from PICs to explore the current position, needs, priorities and opportunities for sharing of skills and expertise. DURATION 11 months between 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009 - Applicant Requirements:
COMPETENCIES - High level oral, written and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work closely and consult with stakeholders (face-to-face and remotely) - Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work in a crosscultural environment - Demonstrated organisation skills, and capacity to create collegial working relationships between experts and stakeholders - Relevant qualifications in law, court administration and/or related areas - Experience in developing and implementing evaluation and follow-up strategies - Report writing skills - Competency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products - Proven experience and expertise in court administration in developing countries. - Proven experience in the creation and maintenance of teams - Demonstrable experience in the development of benchbooks - Application instructions:
