PURPOSE To promote equitable, timely and affordable responses to communities justice needs. OBJECTIVE Support family and the law and the development of policies, procedures and practices which are responsive to the needs of victims, witnesses and children. BACKGROUND Many of the social issues currently being faced by courts at the lower levels will continue to be brought under the umbrella of the family and the law. Disintegration of extended family ties, urbanisation, juvenile criminality, the rights of children and youth1, domestic violence, the rights of women, the role of custom, the role of international obligations and HIV/AIDS2 are all issues faced by Pacific courts, many of which lack sufficient or appropriate policies and procedures to align with legislative requirements. DURATION 4 months from 1 July 2008 to 31 October 2008 - Applicant Requirements:
COMPETENCIES - Proven experience and expertise in the issues outlined above in the development context (preferably in the Pacific) - Demonstrable experience in comparative research - Demonstrable experience in the development of family and law associated policies and procedures for micro-jurisdictions - Experience in designing workshop structures and content according to expressed and assessed needs - Appropriate qualifications in law and/or related areas - Experience developing and supporting the organisation and delivery of workshops - Demonstrable consultative approach - High level oral, written and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work closely and liaise with stakeholders remotely - Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work in a crosscultural environment - Competency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products - Experience in developing and completing evaluation and follow-up strategies - Report writing skills - Application instructions:
