PSI seeks entrepreneurial and dynamic candidates with an interest in private sector approaches to development for the position of Program Manager, Asia/EE. The Program Manager will develop and support specific country programs in this region, in preparation for an overseas post. This position is based in Washington, D.C., and entails about 25% overseas travel. RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Managers are responsible for ensuring full headquarters support of country programs and developing new business opportunities for PSI. Backstopping duties include: - Managing communications with overseas staff; - Maintaining donor relations; - Advising on the implementation of social marketing programs in the field; - Monitoring contract compliance; - Preparing and tracking budgets; - Conducting assessment and technical assistance trips; - Monitoring and reviewing research plans; - Conducting strategic planning exercises; and - Other management functions as required. New business development duties include developing new contacts and funding sources, identifying new project/product opportunities, writing proposals, and designing new projects. Program Managers in the past have rotated into field positions after two years as Program Manager, depending on available posts; however, movement to other DC based positions is an option as well. - Applicant Requirements:
- Significant private sector management, marketing and/or communications work experience; - At least two years of professional work experience in a developing country; - Relevant post-graduate degree (MBA, MIA, MPH, etc.); - Familiarity with international development and health issues; - Familiarity with USAID and other international donors; and - Fluency in a foreign language (especially French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian or Mandarin) preferred. The successful candidate will have excellent writing, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and cross-cultural skills; demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize a variety of tasks on short notice within designated deadlines; and an interest in a future overseas posting with PSI. - Application instructions:
