Help us work for practical realization of human rights in the lives of ordinary people around the Commonwealth and gain experiences working in India We are a South based international human rights organization that is presently involved in police reforms; prison reforms, promoting the right to access information, and human rights education capacity building, research and advocacy. We have offices in Ghana and London and are Headquartered in New Delhi. We welcome volunteers, interns, and stipendiaries with experience, to work with these programs. - Description:
CHRI welcomes committed, capable people to join our team in New Delhi. Applicants must commit to working for periods ranging from 6 - 18 months, but can commit for longer. Work includes research (especially comparative research and analysis), writing for varied audiences, advocating issues to governments, media and other audiences or assisting in the administrative and management side of the director's office. Our work is growing in the Pacific, South Asia and East Africa. - Applicant Requirements:
Candidates must have a strong commitment to human rights and social justice; have demonstrable writing skills; be fully proficient in oral and written English; computer literate; have experience in research; and be able to work on their own with minimal supervision. Qualifications in law, international relations, development, social sciences or related discipline and/or human rights / NGO work experience are valued. Work is varied but includes: research and writing on policing, Pacific, African and Commonwealth human rights issues. It requires candidates to keep up with latest developments in international law as well as evolving situations on the ground. It requires the ability to work quickly and to deadlines and will need ability to write up policy submissions, media articles and conference papers; candidates will be involved with developing and implementing an advocacy strategy; developing and maintaining effective networks with diverse people, including police, government, civil society and media; organizing and delivering workshops and helping the team deepen and effectuate the program for maximum impacts. Candidates must be willing to turn their hands to providing valuable technical assistance to groups across the Commonwealth that seek our assistance. - Application instructions:
