Promoting Human Rights and Education in Bangladesh (PHREB) is a Chittagong based adolescent Girls' focused human rights organization, dedicated to promoting rights and freedom of adolescent girls and children-boys/girls. We are committed to end all forms of violence against young women and girls. Since its foundation in November 2004, PHREB has been mobilizing communities and schools for women's rights and freedom. We educate young people in the school and groups about human rights in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Child Rights Convention and CEDAW so that they can become advocates for human rights, peace and tolerance. We train teachers and guardians to stop violence against girls at the family and school levels. We mobilize men especially young men to prevent discrimination against girls through dialogue between men and women, boys and girls, religious campaigns, inter-religious dialogues, cultural functions, seminars and grass-root campaigns. We develop school, community (slum/rural areas) based adolescent girls and children organizations to ensure an united fight against all forms of violence against girls and children. Adolescent Girls Organization is popularly known as Bangladesh Kishori Adhikar Forum (Bangladesh Adolescent Girls Rights Forum) and children organization Leaders of Tomorrow Club. We empower adolescent girls and children group both boys and girls to articulate, demand and access their human rights by enhancing their leaderships. Adolescent Girls Annual Summit in the Year 2006 raised voice against an unjust society which does not recognise women as human being. They want rights and freedom. PHREB advocates with the government to incorporate the teaching of human rights in the school curricula and true application of the International Human Rights treaties especially CEDAW and UDHR. PHREB honors young girls that achieve highest grade points in the secondary examinations overcoming everyday domestic and community violence against women and girls. We help (financial and technical through PHREB education fund for Girls) victims of gender based violence to study in the formal and non-formal education to become leaders for change. PHREB is developing youth artists with adolescent girls and boys and young people to aware communities about women rights and dignity. Artist for Human Rights is striving to motivate young men and boys to be cooperative with young women and stand strongly against violation of human rights. We train adolescent girls and children in the computer application course and handicrafts training so that they can be independent. We strive to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS among young women and girls. - Closing Date: 30-Apr-2007
