PSI seeks candidates for the position of Intern to support program management functions in its Latin America and Caribbean and Eastern Europe divisions. Based in Washington, D.C., the Intern will report to the Program Manager of these divisions and work with PSI staff in Washington and overseas. The position requires flexibility and willingness to assume varied duties and projects and offers an opportunity to assist PSI staff on a variety of projects in international social marketing, international development and public health. This position will require a minimum of 15-20 hours per week (negotiable) starting in April 2007, preferably for a minimum of 4 months with the possibility of extending. This is a paid position. RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not be limited to: - Editing and proofreading reports and other project documentation; - Creating and maintaining filing systems & organizational infrastructure; - Assist in preparation and tracking of budgets and expenditures; - Data entry, including formatting charts, graphs and presentations; - Assisting with travel arrangements and expense report preparation; - Researching selected topics (e.g. health, marketing) for proposals and program implementation - Fulfilling other programmatic and administrative functions as required. - Responding to internal and external requests for information; - Assist in monitoring contract compliance; QUALIFICATIONS: - Currently enrolled Undergraduate Senior, recent graduate, or current Masters' candidate in a related area of study (MPH, MBA, International Studies, International Development); - One - two years experience working in a fast paced office environment; - Excellent communication skills; - Advanced computer skills (MS Office application, including Word and Excel); - Fluency in English; Proficiency in Spanish preferable The successful candidate will have excellent organizational and administrative skills with special attention to detail; proven ability to manage large workloads and organize work efficiently with minimal supervision; ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks within deadlines; demonstrated willingness and ability to work independently and on a team in a cooperative, problem-solving capacity; numerical literacy; and research experience. Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in international health and development issues. - Application instructions:
