Sustainable Wellington Transport Group - submission Ngauranga to Airport Corridor Plan  new

This submission by the Sustainable Wellington Transport group argues that the Ngauranga to Airport Draft Plan has only made some commitment to bus lanes and providing for walker and cyclists needs, but that the document is overwhelmingly a plan with the goal of facilitating pressure on our roading system from sustained traffic growth. Based on concerns relating to climate change, the plan is therefore not truly sustainable. The group therefore asks you to print and sign the attached submission or to visit the link and write your own submission (SWTG, 18 July, 2008).

FORUM ON CUBA - "50 years since the revolution"

The forum will examine many aspects of Cuban society and how this fascinating country has developed in an internationally hostile climate since 1 January 1959. How can a poor country manage both, a lower infant mortality rate than its powerful near neighbour, the United States, and have the highest proportion of people over 100 in the world? How does their economy actually work? What's the culture and literature scene like? What are the people like? A variety of academic and other speakers will examine these questions at the Victoria University Student Union Building from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday July 26th. Entrance by Koha
