Fisheries Science Management Programme

This Programme is targeted at the poorest sectors of society - small scale and subsistence fishing communities which have little or no alternative to fishing as an activity, and which depend on fisheries for their livelihood. Both food security and improved opportunities for income generation from sustainable resource exploitation are important factors in alleviating poverty. In the context of fisheries, better management is the key to achieving this. The FMSP addresses this need with a range of projects within a framework that is defined by two general programme purposes directed at capture and enhancement fisheries.
