- Act Together Women Against Sanctions on Iraq
-
Act Together: Women Against Sanctions on Iraq is a group of UK-based Iraqi and non-Iraqi women. We aim to cross the divide between Iraqi and British opposition to war and sanctions on Iraq, and to encourage people in Britain to question their government's policy. We campaign as a women-only group in order to create a space in which women, from all nationalities, feel comfortable expressing themselves and acting together. In many ways, sanctions affect women particularly harshly - Act Together aims to further understanding of life for women under sanctions as well as campaigning against the devastation of Iraqi society and the humanitarian crisis that the sanctions regime has maintained.

-
Established in 1997, the Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action (ALNAP) is an international interagency forum working to improve the quality and accountability of humanitarian action. Its objective is: 'to improve the quality of, and accountability in, humanitarian action. Recognising the different needs of particular organisations and groups within the humanitarian system, it seeks to achieve this by providing a system-wide forum to identify, debate, prioritise and address issues of common concern around quality and accountability.' ALNAP was founded in the belief that: there is a significant agenda to be addressed in terms of the accountability and quality of humanitarian assistance operations; the process of addressing this agenda will be greatly facilitated by an inclusive forum for the exchange of views and experiences.
