2007 Global Corruption Barometer

After five years of surveying the general public's views and experiences of corruption, Transparency International's 2007 Global Corruption Barometer survey shows that bribery is still prevalent in many countries, but that citizens are increasingly demanding accountability from their governments (Transparency International, 6 December 2007).

EM-DAT : the OFDA/CRED International Disasters Data Base

Since 1988 the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED) has been maintaining an Emergency Events Database - EM-DAT. EM-DAT was created with the initial support of the WHO and the Belgian Government. The main objective of the database is to serve the purposes of humanitarian action at national and international levels. It is an initiative aimed to rationalise decision making for disaster preparedness, as well as providing an objective base for vulnerability assessment and priority setting. For example, it allows on to decide whether floods in a given country are more significant in terms of its human impact than earthquakes or whether a country is more vulnerable than another for computing resources is. EMDAT contains essential core data on the occurrence and effects of over 12,800 mass disasters in the world from 1900 to present. The database is compiled from various sources, including UN agencies, non-governmental organisations, insurance companies, research institutes and press agencies.

Gender Equity Index 2008

Global Education Database

There are 145 indicators compiled from the UNESCO Institute of Statistics and 62 indicators compiled from the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS), a USAID program that has conducted full-scale nationally representative household surveys in over 60 developing countries since 1984.

Global education digest 2007: comparing education statistics across the world

Key Indicators 2002: Population and Human Resource Trends and Challenges

The Key Indicators of Developing Asian and Pacific Countries 2002 is the 33rd edition of this flagship annual statistical data book of ADB. It features 31 regional tables that compare the Millennium Development Goals, economic, financial, and other social indicators across the 40 developing member countries of ADB. It also contains 38 country tables, each with 18-year data series on: population; labor force and employment; national accounts; production; energy; price indices; money and banking; government finance; external trade; balance of payments; international reserves; exchange rates; external indebtedness. NationMaster is a massive central data source and a handy way to graphically compare nations. NationMaster is a vast compilation of data from such sources as the CIA World Factbook, UN, and OECD. You can generate maps and graphs on all kinds of statistics with ease. The site seeks to be the web's one-stop resource for country statistics on everything from soldiers to wall plug voltages.
